Impressions is a photographic project of 11 Polaroid shots inspired by Claude Monet’s paintings created in the renowned water lily garden at Giverny. Just as the Impressionist painters sought to capture fleeting moments of light and atmosphere on canvas, this project uses the unique qualities of Polaroid film to convey a similar sense of ephemeral beauty on photosensitive paper.
The Polaroid medium, with its distinctive characteristics and instant development, mirrors the Impressionist technique of capturing light and color spontaneously and transiently. Each photograph in the Impressions series aims to evoke the same emotive response as Monet’s masterpieces, translating the essence of the garden’s serene beauty into tangible, photographic impressions.
Through this project, the viewer is invited to experience the subtle interplay of light and shadow, the delicate hues of nature, and the overall ambiance of Monet’s beloved garden, as seen through a contemporary lens.
